I know the P50 is 720p and the GV47LF is 1080p but isn't there more to it than that...The P50 is larger but the GV47LF is 1080p...I would suggest that which one has the best PQ (Picture Quality) may be most related to your specific viewing needs/environment...

Bought this at Costco a week ago and I am very pleased with the purchase so far...I have nothing but problems with this tv...

From a previous post this TV is made by Princeton Graphics which is decent company...That's a good place to find LCDs with dead pixels...Got 2 for $3,000, so $1500 a piece sounded pretty good to me...

I have to admit that I do see it in a couple video games, but it's not bad enough to be distracting...The main reason I purchased this monitor because I wanted a new set w/2 HDMI inputs...Now, I can honestly say that the PQ on the Vizio PD50HDM is better than the JVC I used to own (which, by the way, was $1300 more expensive, and 10 inches smaller) by a long way...and the picture qualty...

What a good way to spend your tax return...I agree, Sharp and Sony are just too expensive, although of course very good...While their pictures were good, I felt the cost was too high for what I'm getting...
