I have the HTR-5490 currently and like it very much...Secondly, I've noticed on the specs of the RX-Z1/Z9 as compared to the RX-V2400 that both have 192/24 DACs, however the Z1/Z9 are listed as having Burr Brown DACs...

You suggested that the Yamaha DVD 0545 might supply the answer, but this is a dead link on your Hifi-Remote website...Hi! I have a 5490 Yamaha and need codes for my Cinema7 remote UR7800...If you want to find those other functions, Yamaha has very good documentation for some of their receivers on their website at yamaha.com/yec/customer/ir_codes.htm...

I've done a lot of research on the HT display end, but am just starting on the audio part...Should I pay $175 to fix my HTR-5490 to use for the long haul, or save the money to buy a newer, nicer, better receiver...

I'll let you know by tomorrow...It is capable of decoding just about every format on the market...I just had a friend of mine ask me to look around for a receiver...

Well, the receiver was *OK*, dd 5.1 reproduction was pretty decent, music reproduction was VERY good IMO...Anyway, today i picked up a yamaha HTR-5490, and the first thing i watched (i dont have many dvds') was the pod race scene from st: episode 1...Hi, I would just to say one good word for the HTR-5490...
