it doesnt matter which port they're just labeled differently...And the two opticals are listed DTV and CD...just make sure if u use infrared, not to stare directly into the light because its really bright...

I would be ok with moving the slider to AV1 on the remote...My wife loves having to use 2 remotes...Your yamaha receiver doesn't have a toggle command, that does both ON & OFF, which you would need to use with the lone middle power key in the audio device...

I just picked up this receiver...The receiver has 2 hdmi inputs, one out...I was planning on just hooking a hdmi from the cable box to the receiver then to the tv...

Sure, bottom-end amps may not be as good as bottom-end "decent" amps of the 80's, but the reverse may also be true...In the end I think that this receiver will be well-suited to someone who understands that they aren't going to get a reference-quality piece of gear for $120, or indeed for anything less than four times that amount...
