i own a pair of YamahaNS-1000 for a while now and thinking about trying a different amplifier...Are there some recommendations concerning amplifiers maybe resulting in a more clearly...tube amp's or large powerful amp's seem to be a good choice for the NS-1000 M...
The drivers for the NS-1000 series do indeed seem to be still being made as many people have reported them being on 'back order' from Japan...They are lighter (thinner) and of higher surface precision than the NS-1000 domes...Of course, the woofer is unique too...
Both models in good shape still command relatively a high price in the used market...I upgraded about 7 years ago and have gone through 3 pairs of different speakers since, but I still have the Yamaha's...But speaker design has improved since their heyday...
I purchased a pair of Yamahans-1000s speaker from our local thrift shop recently...If you were to change out the woofer for anything else, then I would consider biamping...BTW, the NS-1000 is my all time favourite Japanese bookshelf speaker...
The NS-1000-m is one of a very few speakers besides high-end Jbl units, that sounds like real live music, and not a speaker box...The NS-1000 is one of my favorite bookshelf speakers...
