I have the YSP1100 and from what I recall the diference is the 1100 has vertical and horizontal sound beams while the 1000 does not...Since its not that much more money that you say you can get the 1100 for I would say go for the 1100, then you never have to wonder if the 1100 would have sounded better than the 1000...

If you have had the chance to test/hear the Yamaha YSP1000 or YSP800 - could you share your impressions/thoughts...You'll also need good reflective walls to get the best from it...the YSP-1 was really good, sound quality was good and the surround effects were impressive...As i'm talking about the YSP-1 I can only imagine the YSP-1000 is just as good and probably...

long listening room was not perfect, being much larger than the largest recommended room...Bear in mind that the YSP-1000 does not decode either of the multichannel hi-res formats and has no six-channel analog input to process SACD or DVD-A signals...I had to do some manual adjustments both in the room and with the options of the YSP-1000 in order to get a balanced surround...
